Poor Morgan Wheeldon NDP candidate in Kings-Hants Nova Scotia became another victim of political correctness this time the NDP turtling over a simple truth uttered by young Wheeldoon on Facebook regarding the butchery in Gaza last summer “One could argue that Israel’s intention was always to ethnically cleanse the region — there are direct quotations proving this to be the case. Guess we just sweep that under the rug.”
The simple truth indeed is what all Canadian political parties do when it comes to Israel. They run for cover. You simply cannot say anything critical about Israel.
Brad Lavigne, senior campaign adviser for the New Democrats, confirmed by email that Wheeldon had resigned as the party’s candidate
“We were made aware of some information that had not previously been disclosed. When we approached Mr. Wheeldon with this information, he submitted his resignation,” wrote Lavigne.
“Our position on the conflict in the Middle East is clear, as Tom Mulcair expressed clearly in the debate,” Lavigne said. “Mr. Wheeldon’s comments are not in line with that policy and he is no longer our candidate.”
Nor is Paul Manly in Nanaimo, BC who was hooked for similar reasons and will cost the NDP seat there on Vancouver Island. Manly another critic of Israel’s policies is now running for the Greens.
Wheeldon of course is correct in his comments but one must not at all costs speak the truth about the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
On this issue Mulcair is as bad as the other timorous leaders.
