NDP turtles in Nova Scotia

Cleansing

Poor Morgan Wheeldon NDP candidate in Kings-Hants Nova Scotia became another victim of political correctness this time the NDP turtling over a simple truth uttered by young Wheeldoon on Facebook regarding the butchery in Gaza last summer “One could argue that Israel’s intention was always to ethnically cleanse the region — there are direct quotations proving this to be the case. Guess we just sweep that under the rug.”

The simple truth indeed is what all Canadian political parties do when it comes to Israel. They run for cover. You simply cannot say anything critical about Israel.
.
Brad Lavigne, senior campaign adviser for the New Democrats, confirmed by email that Wheeldon had resigned as the party’s candidate

“We were made aware of some information that had not previously been disclosed. When we approached Mr. Wheeldon with this information, he submitted his resignation,” wrote Lavigne.

“Our position on the conflict in the Middle East is clear, as Tom Mulcair expressed clearly in the debate,” Lavigne said. “Mr. Wheeldon’s comments are not in line with that policy and he is no longer our candidate.”

Nor is Paul Manly in Nanaimo, BC who was hooked for similar reasons and will cost the NDP seat there on Vancouver Island. Manly another critic of Israel’s policies is now running for the Greens.

Wheeldon of course is correct in his comments but one must not at all costs speak the truth about the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
On this issue Mulcair is as bad as the other timorous leaders.

Ted; You wrote, “On this issue Mulcair is as bad as the other timorous leaders.”

Ditto on Energy East and Tar Sands development. All three parties are neocons in their economic policies. Allan

I am a bit confused about this. Based this tweet attributed to him in an article in the Toronto Star, Morgan Wheeldon is a liberal Zionist. “You know that I believe wholeheartedly in a secure Israel that is a partner of Canada.” Is this not the 2 stte solution? So it would appear that he actually has the same position as Mulcair.

Why the boot? I think Mulcair is walking a very tight line, and cannot afford to have candidates articulating strong criticisms of Israel. He doesn’t want Conservative attack ads to jeopardize his run for the PM job.

Agreed,Peter. Morgan was a bit naive that he could say anything critical about the Gaza slaughter.sure enough he got pounced on.Like most critics of israel he has no desire to see Israel delegitimated but simply held to account

Agreed. But I do think more people should examine carefully what is meant by a “Jewish State”. Most assume it means “a safe place for Jews”. It is a lot more than that. Unless you have really examined it closely, you won’t understand just how racist Israel is (i’m not talking about the West Bank, here) or how the legalised discrimination against non-Jews in Israel works. Its all very legal. I do think we need to start examining and questioning what a Jewish state means in practice. Its not pretty. That part needs to be delegitimated, in my view.

    Strategic voting…eeni meeni mini mo..
Elizabeth May is the only one with incredibility, knowledge of the issues and a sense of maturity. Sadly, my goal is to rid this country of the worst leader since Confederation- a dictator hell bent on destroying every element of democracy and freedom we have left. So it’s a tough choice!

We are being bombarded with aerial anti Liberal TV attack ads from the Conservatives during this election. Notice they are not attacking Mulcair- for a good reason!
They greatly fear Trudeau because if the vote from that party bleeds there is a greater chance of voters running to the Tories- . And that’s what they are hoping for.
